LASIK Eye Surgery Recovery Time
By Tammi Marcelyn
LASIK is a form of surgery used to correct poor vision depending on the characteristics of the poor vision and overall eye health of the patient. LASIK uses a laser to reshape the cornea which corrects the vision problems. There are many things to take into consideration before going under the laser. These things should include the procedure itself, how well you qualify to have the procedure, the quality of the LASIK doctor, the risks and complications and the LASIK eye surgery recovery time involved. While, many people are worried about the overall procedure, you have to keep in mind the recovery time and what you will experience when you are planning the surgery with your doctor. LASIK surgery generally takes less than fifteen minutes and most patients see immediate results, though complete results from the procedure can take up to six months to show full results.
The recovery time is relatively short compared to other procedures and can often be over in the matter of a couple of days. While, you will be able to see when you leave the office, your eyes will be a little sensitive and it will be recommended that you wear protective eye wear for the first couple of days after the procedure is done. Your eye surgeon may also give you antibiotics to avoid infection and ask you to use eye drops to keep your eyes moist while they heal. These are all standard obvious things that are normal after a LASIK procedure and should not concern you. This will all be explained before the procedure starts and you can use this knowledge to plan your week around the procedure.
You should probably avoid sitting in front of a computer screen, being in bright lights or other severe circumstances that would tire the eyes too much. Take it easy, use the eye drops and follow the doctor's instructions to get through your LASIK eye surgery recovery time faster. When you are looking for an answer to your vision problems, LASIK is one of the best procedures to consider. Beyond learning about the process and finding the right doctor, it's important to know what to expect in the form of recovery.
