The Advancement of Laser Eye Surgery
By David Wachler
If we have some eye problems, we can choose to receive eye surgery. However, in the surgery, no scalpel will be used, but laser. The Excimer laser plays the same role as scalpel in the surgery. Laser surgery is also suitable for those who can not receive scalpel surgery.
Generally, eyeglasses and contact lenses are the commonest solutions for nearsightedness and farsightedness. Of course, laser surgery is also suitable and effective for the two problems. But for sufferers of other complicated eye problems, like astigmatism, those glasses and lenses are not so ideal. On the contrary, LASIK surgery is the best alternative.
In laser surgery, every detail is operated in an accurate way. Safety is also another very important feature of this surgery. The recovery time is very short and receivers can enjoy perfect vision after the surgery. In the surgery, the inner cornea will be reshaped by the laser.
Generally, cutting cornea with laser will lead to great risk. And luckily, this has been much improved in the accuracy of the surgery now.
In U.S., there are no less than one million receivers of laser surgery with very high success rate, almost 80%.
In the past, the surgery on the cornea requires greatly on the surgeons and almost no people can receive it. And now, the emergence of laser surgery has solved all such problems.
Some merits of laser eye surgery have attracted many people to receive it, like the great success rate, short recovery time, etc. Several days after the surgery, receivers can have very good vision. However, this surgery is very expensive. If you earn a lot of money, you can consider of receiving it.
One of the most important steps in the surgery is to find the just right surgeon. It is true that there are more and more surgeons for LASIK. Therefore, it is essential to confirm the identification of the surgeon, including the equipments for the surgery. Also, it is a very good idea to listen to other's feedbacks on the surgeon.

Factors Determining LASIK Surgery Cost
Factors Determining LASIK Surgery Cost
By Pinky Savika
LASIK (Laser Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is the "the newest and most successful surgery that utilizes a laser to reshape the cornea and improve vision". Currently, LASIK eye surgery is a preferred option mainly because of the lesser timed consumed, technological advancement, and performance ratio.
Evidently, the LASIK surgery cost has to be a little high but one should not base everything on costs! Here are given some factors that determine the costs.
- Prices vary in relation to geographical location such as a surgery in metropolitan city will cost more than the suburbs!
- The overall cost also depends on the complexity of the case, the surgery, the equipments used, the care given, the experience of the doctor, and the post-operative care. As per rough estimates, the LASIK surgery costs vary between $500 and $2,500 per eye. Ask the LASIK eye surgeon about the factors that contribute towards the surgery cost.
Other reasons may or may not include these considerations: royalty to the manufacturers, medications used before and after surgery, rent of the premises, office location, expense of disposable items, post operation care and doctor appointments until complete recovery, advertising, and employee salaries.
Wondering what the above things got to do with you? It is simple economics- funds are needed to maintain an establishment. So, how would doctors procure maintenance expense? The fees from patients help in funding. Of course, one can always ask for discounts, which depends on the provisions permissible by law. However, never fall for aggressive advertising gimmick. You might end up paying more than you had bargained for!
As with other surgeries, there is no guarantee on the LASIK eye surgery. Some people tend to think that if they pay more money, better the success rate. All depends on the surgeon's skill and experience. Anyhow, better to check the facilities you are paying beforehand than repent later!

Enjoy the LASIK Surgery With Minimal Risks
By Luna Moonfang
LASIK surgery is now quite popular among people, especially the adolescences. With the help of LASIK, they can get rid of the inconvenient spectacles to enjoy the broad vision.
Though we hear some terrible cases of poor surgical result, they are quite rare, only about 1~5%. Actually, each surgery has some risks, and there is no 100% guarantee for a surgery. If you can do careful evaluation of your surgeon and his clinic, the risks can greatly be reduced. A good surgeon can provide you with all the steps of the procedures, and tells you what to expect after each procedure. Meanwhile, a duteous surgeon will inform you about the risks of the surgery, about the recovery time after the surgery, and ask you to reconsider about your decision. He will also offer the complete cost of the operation before doing the surgery, and promise no fees at all except that. In one word, the surgeon should be both professional and duteous.
The common complications of the LASIK surgery include the halos, dry eyes and loss of clarity and sensitivity. All the risks happen in the process of cornea cutting and reshaping procedures, and the risks may be caused by the poor surgical equipments. So using the modern equipments can lead to excellent results.
Not every people can afford the LASIK surgery because the relatively high cost, but don't worry, your insurance may cover the surgery procedure and you may only have to pay part of or even do not have to pay at all. You can request the doctor if their clinic covers the vision insurance. Considering from the long term, LASIK surgery is a beneficial investment, because after you do not spend the cost on aided vision tools the surgery and you can enjoy the good vision in a happy mood.
LASIK surgery is regarded as a time and money saving activity to effectively solve the vision problem which uses the laser to complete the process. According to diagnoses, the risks of surgery are quite minimal, so you can set you heart at rest and do the surgery with confidence.

Four Kinds of Laser Eye Surgeries
By Mariah Carey
In modern society, having a laser eye surgery is not only a fad, but also a more preferable way to have eyesight problems corrected rather than wearing eyeglasses. There are four kinds of laser eyesight correction surgeries which are thought to be necessary to be listed to help patients get a general view.
This first one is the flap techniques, among which the LASIK is the commonly applied one procedure. During the surgery, the surgeon cuts a small flap in the cornea, if LASIK applied, a laser beam is used to create the flap and remove the extra tissue, so that the cornea can be reshaped and regain the ability to focus objects. This procedure can also be achieved by photoablation techniques in which a kind of cool heat, mainly composed of ultraviolet radiation, is used to impair the excess tissue.
Then the tissue is taken off from the cornea. The difference between flap technique and photoablation technique is that the latter comes to comparatively secondary. However, as it known to all that problems are inevitable to emerge during any surgery, so do flap techniques, during which, the flap may be put out of place causing eye soreness and blurry vision but this is of low probability, a million to one. In addition, a perforation in the eye and an irregular flap can happen at times, resulting in seeing "floaters" in vision, but those often happen when older equipment is used.
The second one is the thermal techniques, which are mainly applied to cure farsightedness. It, in both laser technique and electric probe, is achieved by heating up the pupil with thermal heat 8-16 tiny burns. Thus the cornea can be reshaped to be steeper.
The third one is the corneal incision methods. This technique is accomplished based on the principle of changing the surface of the cornea, so that vision errors are fixed. However this technique is proceded in a traditional way by using a diamond-tipped knife to make a tiny cut in cornea, it has been replaced by laser technology now.
The forth one is the implants. They are done by putting contact lenses right behind the cornea forever, which are referred as intra-ocular contact lens implant. This technique is usually applied when one's cornea are so extremely deformed that eye problems can not be corrected by other surgeries.
After the operation, a few days or last up to a month will be taken for one to get recovered which varies from person to person. It is worth to notice that in the course of healing, people should take good care of their eyes, or some issues will occur, for that with any operation, there is certainly a risk of infection. Therefore, it is advisable not to rub eyes, and take along eye drops, which can serve as a help to keep eyes from getting dry. If your eyes are unfortunately get infected, go to see your eye doctor as soon as possible, in case of slowing the course of healing.
That's all the kinds of laser eye correction surgeries above. If you have had enough of the trouble of wearing eyeglasses and contact lenses, it is the time for you to try the new, which will definitely surprise you a lot. Do not be worried about the accidents mentioned above, study show that laser issues happen in less than 1% of eye operations done today. Anyhow, no matter what kind of surgery you are intended to take, do consult a professional eye doctor. If permissible, consulting another one or two ophthalmologists will be great.

Transforming Your Life With Laser Eye Surgery
By E. Drummond
Understanding Laser Eye Surgery
Laser eye surgery can seem like a daunting prospect to those who don't know much about it. However, if you have an understanding of the skill demanded of the surgeons and the care that is taken when laser procedures are performed, you will learn that it is, in fact, a remarkably safe and potentially life changing process.
There are two types of laser eye surgery - LASIK (which is the most common) and PRK/LASEK. In both procedures, extremely precise lasers are used to reshape the cornea, where light enters the eye. Laser surgery can be an ideal solution to treat those who suffer from an eye condition - whether it may be astigmatism, myopia (short-sightedness) or hyperopia (long-sightedness).
The Benefits of Laser Eye Surgery
People that suffer from poor vision have to deal with the inconveniences associated with contact lenses and glasses. Bad eyesight can therefore be a nuisance - think of groping for glasses first thing in the morning or the hassles of fiddling with contact lenses and cumbersome cleaning and storing solutions. Since the advent of laser eye surgery, people who suffer from eye conditions can rest assured in the knowledge that there is a solution that can potentially change the way you they see the world.
The benefits of eye surgery mean that you will experience an immediate improvement in your vision and freedom from corrective eyewear. The reshaping of the cornea in LASIK surgery means that the eye's focusing power is improved and the patient's visual acuity is enhanced. This laser eye procedure is usually associated with very little discomfort and a quick recovery time.
Transforming your Life with Laser Eye Surgery
Very soon after a laser eye surgery procedure, patients can begin to experience dramatically improved vision that eliminates the need for corrective eyewear. You will find that outdoor activities can be embraced and enjoyed without worry - a swim in the sea or a walk on the beach is a breeze! You will also be able to participate in sports without the restrictions that wearing glasses and contacts bring. Not only that, but this newfound freedom from glasses or contacts can do wonders to heighten your self-confidence in public and enhance your social life.
Patients who have undergone laser eye treatment tend to find that even travel becomes more enjoyable as there is no need to pack a backup pair of glasses (heaven forbid you may break the first!) or a need to worry about packing all of the accessories associated with contact lenses. You can just pack up and go, purely enjoying the views and experience your holiday presents.
Not only will your life be transformed, but after your procedure, you will never again have to worry about the costs of corrective eyewear - no more stress about breaking your glasses or having run out of contact lens solutions. On top of that, you won't need to face the costs of replacement each time your prescription changes. Laser surgery can not only improve your eyesight, but also has the potential to change your whole outlook on life.

Vision Correction With Laser Surgery - Improving Eyesight With LASIK
By Mario Santos
Vision correction surgery can heal people who suffer vision disorders such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism, and presbyopia. This kind of surgery can bring patient's vision back.
Myopia (nearsightedness) happens when the cornea and the lens are too strong, causing the light rays to focus in front of the retina. On the other hand, hyperopia (farsightedness) occurs when the cornea and the lens are too weak causing failure to focus light rays onto the retina. Astigmatism is caused by refractive error, as the cornea is not perfectly spherical. As a result the light is focused at different locations, causing asymmetric blur. Presbyopia occurs due to the aging eye, which naturally loses its flexibility. That person will find it extremely difficult to focus on close objects.
All these vision disorders can be fixed by vision correction called LASIK surgery. This surgery is a painless method that combines conventional ocular surgery with state-of-the-art excimer laser surgical technology.
First, ophthalmologists prepare the area around the eyes with antiseptic solution to minimize the risk of infection and anesthetic eye drops are given to the patient. The procedure is performed by making a partial cut through the front surface of the cornea to create a 160-micron-thick flap, then a cool beam excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea, including removing microscopic layers of corneal tissue to meet the person's specific refractive requirement.
After the laser treatment, the flap is carefully repositioned over the newly contoured corneal tissue where it adheres immediately with the underlying tissue -- like an own body band-aid -- thus eliminating the need for sutures, which helps speed up the healing process. People at 20 or above are suitable for the treatment. They should have stable vision for the last 1 year and enjoy good health in general. The treatment is not recommended for those who are pregnant.
The procedure is very fast. It is about 10 minutes for every eye, with an average of six seconds to cut the flap and about one minute to reshape the corneal layer using the laser. The quick treatment is done on an outpatient basis and offers fast recovery without the usual post-operative discomforts, including mild scratchy or gritty sensations and watery eyes.
